Spurs Transfers: 5 More La Liga Stars That Could Follow Roberto Soldado To White Hart Lane

And the spending didn€™t end there as manager Andre Villas-Boas pushed the summer splurge toward the £50 million barrier by adding Valencia striker Roberto Soldado to his ranks in a £26 million deal. Out of Villas-Boas' three summer signings so far, it is the capturing of Soldado that really gets the pulses racing. The 28-year-old was the fifth-highest goalscorer in La Liga last season behind only Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao and new Manchester City recruit Alvaro Negredo in the standings. Soldado was also the second-highest-scoring Spaniard in the division after netting an impressive 24 times in the league. And it is that proficiency in front of goal that will hopefully serve Spurs well this season, particularly as they were at times overly-reliant on Gareth Bale to find the back of the net.
