Spurs Transfers: 5 Reasons Jermain Defoe Moving To Toronto Is A Good Idea

2. The League Will Give Defoe An Opportunity To Raise Confidence

Although, there is an awful lot of better quality in the MLS than there used to be, it's still very much a work in progress. This is an opportunity for Defoe to build up his confidence and score plenty of goals in preparation for a potential World Cup place. However, there is a potential complication due to the schedule of the American league. It's a well-established fact that the league doesn't restart until March meaning that Defoe wouldn't be able to play until then. So, it will be interesting to see if he remains with Spurs until then, or if he may be loaned to another Premier League team. He will certainly want to keep himself fit during any period he isn't able to play.
