Spurs Transfers: Cash Plus Players Bid For Christian Benteke

The Sun is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to reduce the fee in a potential deal for Christian Benteke by offering Aston Villa a number of players to choose from in part exchange. The Midlands club are said to be holding out for £25 million for the Belgian striker, but Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is not prepared to pay that amount, so Villa are said to have Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Scott Parker, Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone to choose from to sweeten the deal. Andre Villas-Boas doesn't rate Assou-Ekotto highly, while the arrival of Paulinho ensures that Parker, Livermore and Huddlestone will see their first team opportunities limited in the coming season, meaning that all four players are surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane. Villa are said to be holding out for a cash only deal, however, which makes any deal between the two clubs somewhat difficult. Left-back Assou-Ekotto is a £3 million target for Fenerbahce, midfielder Huddlestone has been linked with Paolo Di Canio's Sunderland and both Parker and Livermore are thought to be on QPR€™s wanted list, meaning the quartet could be on the way out of Spurs regardless of the Benteke deal. Benteke has not travelled with Villa on their pre-season trip to Germany, as he looks to force a move out of the club, and Chelsea are reportedly competing with Tottenham for his services. Should Villa accept a cash plus player offer for their star striker? Would any of those Spurs players be good signings for the Midlands side? Have your say in the comments box below!
