3. James Rodriguez - Monaco (Attacking Midfielder)

Fernando Vergara/AP/Press Association ImagesArguably the best player at this World Cup - and the scorer of one of the best goals ever seen at FIFA's elite international tournament - Colombia and Monaco's James Rodriguez was bound to be the subject of transfer rumours - and it was something of a surprise to see him linked with
Spurs. Of course, the rumours probably weren't true, and Rodriguez has apparently outright claimed that he wouldn't be interested in a move to the Premier League at all - let alone to Spurs - and it's questionable as to whether Spurs could have afforded him anyway (he cost Monaco
£38.5 million just last year and you would imagine they'd want to make a profit on the star of the current World Cup). It's a nice thought to imagine a player of Rogriguez's quality strutting his stuff at White Hart Lane - or indeed the Premier League in general - but the press went a little mad with this one and it's surely nothing more than a pipe dream.
