The Mirror have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur will go back to Southampton in January next year with a fourth bid for French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. In August this year, the Lilywhites' new manager and former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino had three £20 million bids rejected for the France star, as he hoped his former club would cave in as the transfer window's closure loomed. New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman insisted all summer that, amidst a mass exodus of the Saints' best players, Schneiderlin would be going nowhere - and he is sticking with that stance to this day - but his resolve will again be tested in January when the White Hart Lane club return and attempt to snap him up again. The combative midfield enforcer openly expressed his desire to leave St Mary's this summer - taking to Twitter to express his discontent on one occasion - but he appears to have been talked out of leaving and has started this season very well, performing admirably so far and scoring three times in Southampton's opening four Premier League games. Spurs went on to sign Benjamin Stambouli instead this summer and already have the likes of Mousa Dembele, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho and Nabil Bentaleb who can play in the midfield holding role, but such is Pochettino's admiration of Schneiderlin that he still believes he would be a worthwhile addition to his squad.
