5. Alvaro Pereira
Tottenham are in the market for a new left-back this summer as uncertainty grows over the future of Benoît Assou-Ekotto. The Cameroonian fullback no longer fits into manager Andre Villas-Boas' long term plans and, having managed to make just 11 Premier League appearances last season, and with Kyle Naughton and centre-half Jan Vertonghen both filling his position in recent times, the 29-year-old looks set for a move. Ekotto has been linked with a move to France and if that happens Spurs are going to need a new left-back. One option there is Inter Milan's Alvaro Pereira. Despite only signing for the Italian giants from Porto last summer, Villas-Boas is checking into his availability, according to the
Mirror, and is very familiar with the Uruguayan defender. Pereira played under the Portuguese boss during Porto's treble-winning season of 2010-11, and Villas-Boas will be hoping the fullback can be a similar success story at White Hart Lane.
