Spurs vs Norwich - 5 Areas Where The Game Was Won & Lost

1. Silly Offsides Gave No Respite

Norwich Flag Norwich would have expected to be on the defensive for the majority of the game at White Hart Lane. They would have hoped to use Redmond's pace, particularly, on the counter, and the England U21 player did put in one cross towards the end of the first half that van Wolfswinkel perhaps should have done better with, but Danny Rose did put in a tremendous last-ditch sliding tackle to deflect his effort wide. With the striker getting no luck from Dawson and Vertonghen, and Norwich unable to retain possession, the defence was under constant pressure. There was no out ball, no valve to relieve the strain, and silly, lazy offsides did not help Hughton or his men. Four offsides might not sound like many, but they abruptly brought to an end several Norwich attacks, of which there were few in the game. It is bad enough giving the ball straight back to the opposition with desperate clearances, but it is unforgiveable to turn over possession when it looks like you might be able to go on a rare sortie forward.
