Spus Transfers: 5 January Replacements For Erik Lamela
3. Miralem Pjanic
Tottenham and their London rivals Arsenal have been chasing Miralem Pjanic since last summer, but their respective pursuits have been thus far fruitless. Nevertheless, the Roma midfielder remains in Tottenham's sights, and perhaps one of the best options available if it comes to replacing Erik Lamela. Pjanic has been described as an "old-fashioned playmaker with huge technical qualities" and scored three times and created six assists in Serie A last season. Primarily an attacking midfielder, Pjanic can also operate in central midfield or on the right flank, which would give manager Tim Sherwood a wealth of options and less of a headache should Lamela quit. The only downside is that Pjanic has frequently stated in the past that he has no intentions of leaving Italy, and would likely not come cheap even if he were available. His market value is said to stand at £20 million.
