Spus Transfers: 5 January Replacements For Erik Lamela
2. Luis Nani
Despite signing a new, five-year-contract at Manchester United back in September, Nani's future is up in the air at Old Trafford. Criticisms of poor performances have dogged the Portuguese flier over the last couple of seasons while injury wrecked much of his campaign last term, limiting him to just 11 league outings. And, following six largely underwhelming seasons at the Theatre of Dreams, United are reportedly prepared to sell up and cut their losses on the 27-year-old. Tottenham were interested in the midfielder seven years ago before he moved to the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon and could be about to revive their interest, according to recent reports. Though not a playmaker by the strict definition of the word, Nani could still fill the void left by Lamela in the wide areas, and showed his playmaking abilities with 20 assists in 2010-11, leading to him being named United's Players' Player of the Year. Sadly, he has failed to recapture old glories in Manchester but a move to Tottenham may help him revive his career and help Spurs out of a tricky situation should Lamela leave.
