Stoke City 1-2 Crystal Palace - 6 Things We Learned

6. Blunt Attacks

After a game with three goals scored by two strikers and winger, the last thing one would probably conclude is that both sides are struggling in front of goal but the truth is, they are. The three goals came from two penalties and a long-range stunner from Lee Chung-yong. Stoke had the lion's share of possession and managed twenty six attempts but could only manage five on target - one of those the penalty they scored from - while Palace only managed three on target from their twelve attempts - again including their goal from the penalty spot. Both teams will need to be a lot more ruthless in front of goal if they are to realise the attacking potential they undoubtedly have. Both will be sniffing around the same players over the next couple of transfer windows as they look to find that elusive twenty-goals-a-season man.
