Sunderland: 10 Things That Will Definitely Happen This Season
3. Cattermole Will Brutally Two-Foot His Own Bad Discipline Record
Lee Cattermole is a fast-growing Sunderland hero. He's playing in a time where success is at an all-time premium, and when that happens, fans will grasp at any slight glimmer of hope. That's where Cattermole comes in. We live in an age where players are more interested in free Xboxes and big money sponsorship deals than actually wowing fans on the pitch. That's why it's a breath of fresh air to see a player giving 100% in every game. Cattermole isn't perfect, but he's a far better midfielder than the general public and referees give him credit for. He picked up 14 yellow cards in 28 games, but anybody with a working pair of eyes could tell that a lot of those fouls wouldn't have been given to any other player. His reputation has gone before him for too long. It's also telling that Cattermole hasn't picked up a red card since November 2013. That's a long time for a player the 'neutrals' would tell you is a wild, rampaging bull. However, a world where Lee Cattermole isn't disliked is a world where Lee Cattermole becomes ineffective. He has a presence on the field, and he can use that to his advantage. If any other club had a Cattermole in their side, they'd love him just as much. That being said, there's no doubt with 38 games under his belt, he'll (unjustly) smash his record of indiscipline.
