Sunderland Transfer News: Stoke's Geoff Cameron Offer Rejected

Stoke City have rebuffed an inquiry from Sunderland regarding the availability of their full-back Geoff Cameron, citing his indispensability on the field. According to Stoke-based paper The Sentinel, Potters management were loath to entertain the bid, shutting down any interest the Wearsiders might have in the American international because of his increasing value to Mark Hughes. The 28-year-old has become indispensable to the Potters' campaign and has endeared himself to management with a series of consistent performances €“ Cameron has made 64 appearances for the Staffordshire club and picked up plaudits for his defensive work. However, it is believed the inquiry for the former Houston Dynamo man is not linked to Stoke's continued pursuit of Sunderland's Lee Cattermole. The Englishman is felt to be top of Mark Hughes' wishlist and the Welshman's interest in his man has piqued following Liam Bridcutt's arrival at the Stadium Of Light for £2.5 million earlier this week. The former Brighton man's signing is thought to have pushed Cattermole down Gus Poyet's pecking list, paving the way for a potential move to Staffordshire €“ despite earlier rumours of a £5 million move, the Potters could potentially get their man for less.
