4. Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea)

Jonjo Shelvey is yet to feature in the Sunderland rumour mill this month, but it would make sense on a number of fronts to pick him up from relegation rivals Swansea - that's one positive of snatching Shelvey. He didn't quite cut it at Liverpool, but during his time at Swansea, Shelvey has matured and grown into a capable Premier League player. However, he's out of favour in South Wales, and has been linked with a move to Newcastle for the past few months. The 23-year-old is still young yet he's already experienced in the middle of the pitch, and while his defensive talent may not be immense, he would be the most advanced midfielder alongside M'Vila and Cattermole. His long shots can be deadly and would offer a new weapon for Sunderland.
