The 22 year old wouldn't be immediately available, still recovering from the knee operation which ended his season in April, but is thought to be on course for a pre-Christmas return, according to Brendan Rodgers. Although hardly the most exciting prospect, Sunderland fans would surely welcome a player of Flanagan's clear dedication and maturity - whether on a loan deal or as a permanent signing.
