Sunderland Transfers: 5 Reasons Fabio Borini Is Worth £14m
2. He Fits In With Poyets Footballing Mentality
From the first moment Gus Poyet breezed through the door at the Stadium Of Light to restore calm, pride, and indeed ketchup, the Uruguayan has promised a defined footballing philosophy based on passing, passing, and yes, more passing. The change of tactics took a while to sink in, yet after some calamitous indiscretions on the field (please see Phil Bardsley and Lee Cattermole), the philosophy seemed to sink in, and it certainly peaked at Old Trafford in May when the Black Cats played Man United off the park and could easily have come away with a three goal victory. Fabio Borini undoubtedly fits into this style. The Italian has been brought up in a fantastic Chelsea academy, and has spent two spells under Brendan Rogers (at Swansea City and Liverpool), who is renowned in the game for his patient, possession based build up approach. With a year on Wearside already under his belt, Borini will fit seamlessly into Poyets project, and will prove to be one of the signings of the season when we pick the bones out of the upcoming campaign next summer.
