Jonny Evans' loan deal at Sunderland saw him become one of the most highly-regarded centre backs in the club's modern history, playing with a composure and authority far beyond his teenage years. He has since floated in and out of the Manchester United first team squad, but looks to have fallen below Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in Louis van Gaal's pecking order. A return to the Stadium of Light was rumoured earlier in this summer's transfer window, but such a move never materialised. He is still at United, but could well find himself playing for a side such as Everton or Tottenham come the start of the season.
