The most beloved man in the current squad (and one of the least popular players in the Premier League), Cattermole has become the embodiment of what fans expect from Sunderland; honest, hard-working, and as tough as they come. Although his disciplinary record leaves a lot to be desired, he has noticeably cleaned up his act in recent seasons, and has seen his form flourish as a result. He can tackle, pick a pass, and never stops fighting for the good of the team. Best Moment: Sunderland would never have survived the previous two seasons were it not for Cattermole's limitless determination and desire, qualities which most shone through in an impressive 0-0 draw with 2014/15's eventual runaway champions. Thanks to Cattermole's dogged midfield display, the Black Cats held Chelsea to one of just two goalless performances in their entire league campaign.
