At one point, Dossena actually seemed a promising signing, an experienced left back with a history of appearances for teams such as Liverpool and Napoli. He impressed on his debut, the famous 2-1 home victory over Newcastle, but was sent off in his next game for a heartless stamp on ex-Black Cat David Meyler. In every subsequent appearance he was clearly lacking in both pace and positional discipline, often roaming high up the pitch or straying infield for little reason. He was released at the end of the season after losing his place to the vastly superior Marcos Alonso. Where Is He Now: Having been woefully exposed as no longer good enough for top flight football, Dossena was snapped up by League 1's Leyton Orient - potentially as part of their takeover by Italian businessman Francesco Becchetti. He was sadly unable to prevent relegation by the end of the 2014/15 season.
