The MMA Breakdown: UFC on FX5 - Browne vs. Bigfoot

Josh Neer vs. Justin Edwards

Chris: Next up Josh Neer takes on Justin Edwards in a welterweight bout. Edwards is best known for being a replacement on The Ultimate Fighter: Lesnar vs Dos Santos. It ended pretty badly for him as he was knocked out by eventual winner Tony Ferguson. He has since gone 1-2 in his first three UFC bouts and has not looked good. This could be last chance saloon for him and he desperately needs a win, ideally in a fan friendly bout. His best bet however is to try and get Neer to the ground and work for a submission.Josh Neer, unlike Edwards, is always in exciting fights and is a very well rounded fighter. He can end this one standing or on the ground and will be looking for an impressive performance after getting knocked out by Mike Pyle in his last bout. I expect Neer to bounce back in this one and dominate every round en route to a decision victory. Surely he has too much for Edwards in this one? Stephen: Copy that! In fact I€™d go further and suggest that Neer can, and really should, finish this one early. Edwards just doesn€™t have the power on the feet to stop Neer ploughing forward with nasty elbows and a barrage of punches. I€™m also not convinced that Edwards will be able to bring the ground and pound that he needs if he gets the takedowns and ends up in Neer€™s guard. If Edwards can hang with Neer long enough he€™s likely to end up a bloody mess so some sort of Doctor stoppage isn€™t out of the question either. If this one goes the distance I€™ll be surprised.
