A product of Southampton's excellent academy, Luke Shaw's talent was apparent from a young age and after going to the 2014 World Cup, he joined Manchester United, breaking the transfer fee for a teenager at the time.

Since then, things haven't really gone to plan for the left back, who has spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch. A double leg fracture in 2015 ruled him out for a year, a general lack of fitness continues to plague him and public criticism from manager Jose Mourinho certainly did nothing for his confidence.

However, over the past two seasons there has been a change of fortunes. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has breathed new life into the Red Devils and Shaw has reaped the benefits, playing a lot more regularly and finally showing some of the quality that made United buy him.

Still only 24, he was very likely to make the England squad, for the first time since 2014 (although as back-up to Ben Chilwell), so if he can keep up the good work when football resumes, he'll surely be featuring a lot more on the international stage.
