Another light heavyweight with a fearsome reputation and a world title around his waist. The Russian has never lost and is known to British fans for his demolition of Nathan Cleverly last year, when he stripped the Welshman of his world crown. As mentioned, Kovalev and Stevenson are unlikely to fight any time soon, which leaves his options at light heavyweight a bit limited. Certainly a showdown with Froch would be of more interest to most people than any other scraps he can get his hands on at light heavyweight other than Stevenson or Hopkins. It would be a dangerous fight for Froch and one that may not make too much sense for him given the business it would do. Whilst it would be a massive fight in the business, it would not transcend into the mainstream as his last bout did, and it would not do huge numbers in America seen as neither fighter hails from the country. This is one that hardcore boxing fans would get very excited about, but it does not make financial sense for Froch at this stage, and he would be too likely to lose to make it worthwhile.
