Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Luka Modric Close To Real Madrid Move

Tottenham Hotspur's star midfielder Luka Modric is on the verge of a move to Spanish Champions Real Madrid.

The Daily Mail. Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has been desperate to land 26-year-old Modric all summer and sees his creative distribution as being one of the missing pieces in Madrid challenging for a Champions League trophy next season. Speaking about Modric, the player's close-friend and former Croatia team-mate Mate Billic told press he was close to agreeing a move to Spain;

€˜I€™m very good friends with Modric,€™ said the Sporting Gijon striker. €˜He wants to play in the Spanish league. He loves the Premier League but he wants to play in Spain. He€™s very close to agreeing a move.€™
The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all keen to sign Modric, who is once again hoping to leave managerless White Hart Lane in search of Champions League football but a move to Madrid is favoured. However standing in Modric's move away from Spurs is Daniel Levy's £35 million valuation, £5 million more than Chelsea were willing to spend to land Modric last summer. Modric is currently away on international duty with Croatia and final talks with Madrid aren't expected to take place until he returns from Euro 2012.
