Tottenham Transfer News: Joao Moutinho To Join For £22 Million

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a feee with FC Porto for the signing of Joao Moutinho.

Sky Sports News reports the breaking news that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a feee with FC Porto for the signing of Joao Moutinho. Reports are the fee agreed is a Spurs record spend of £22 million. 25-year-old Moutinho would likely be a replacement for Luka Modric, who this week moved to Real Madrid in a deal worth over £30 million. He would also beef up Spurs' midfield options with Rafael van der Vaart expected to join his old club Hamburg today and reports today suggest Jermaine Jenas is also on his way out of White Hart Lane before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm tonight. The reported agreement over Moutinho's transfer comes just hours after Spurs boss Andre Villa-Boas told reporters at a press conference that signing the midfielder who he managed at his time at Porto would be "impossible"; "It's an impossible deal for the club," "You have to bear in mind that this is a player with a 40million euro release clause "This volume of money is out of Tottenham's possibility. "Bearing in mind that this is a key player for club and country, you wouldn't say that you would get him at half the price and half the price is already bigger than Tottenham's record fee."
