Tottenham Vs Arsenal: 5 Key Things We Learned

4. Spurs Are Definitely Not A One Man Team

I wrote an article about this here and it seems Sunday's match only served to reiterate my points. Gareth Bale was, of course, his usual brilliant self. The Welshman scored one and was a constant threat, albeit after a quiet start. But there were great performances from Spurs players all over the pitch. Aaron Lennon was another constant threat, running with intent at the Arsenal defence and being rewarded with a goal for his troubles. Hugo Lloris was his usual dependable self, only being beaten by a cruel deflection that directed an otherwise off-target header in to his bottom left hand corner. Scott Parker was a lion, running up and down the pitch, putting his body on the line and threading a fantastic pass through for Lennon's goal. Moussa Dembele was wonderful, winning tackles and pushing Spurs forward with his powerful runs. Man of the match Jan Vertonghen was outstanding alongside the rock that is Michael Dawson in the Spurs defence. The time for calling Spurs a one man team has passed, in a nutshell, because they clearly aren't.
