Transfer Window 2012: Premiership Club-by-Club Round-Up

A busy day's work for the football agents of the world is now over, Jim White has been shuffled back into his cupboard shouting about last-minute deals at Spurs, and Newcastle United fans have let out a massive collective sigh of relief. Here's the full run-down...

After the ridiclous, vulgar spectacle of last year's January transfer window, which almost saw Jim White of Sky Sports News blow a gasket live on air, this year's event was a far more understated affair, with far less money spent and fewer knee-jerk decisions into the final hours of January. It seems everyone has learned something from the Andy Carroll/Fernando Torres saga, with the austere measures required by the upcoming Financial Fairplay rules casting an ominous shadow over proceedings. Total Money Spent: £58,300,000 Newcastle United fans may well count themselves the luckiest fans in the league, having seen none of their star players sold, despite constant fear in the wake of past deals taking talents like Andy Carroll, Jose Enrique, Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton away from the club. Adding to that the high-profile capture of Papiss Demba Cisse from Freiburg to join hotshot Demba Ba up-front and Newcastle fans can certainly count themselves lucky: it seems Mike Ashley's Grand Plan isn't all bad, even if Steven Taylor's season ending injury wasn't covered by an incoming centre-half. But on paper it looks like Everton who have done the best interest, with Nikica Jelavic looking like a very good capture for £5.5m, Darron Gibson from Manchester United, Landon Donovan on loan, and right at the death, the returning loan of Steven Pienaar from Tottenham Hotspur. It was Newcastle who spent the most on one player - £9m for Cisse - and QPR who brought in the most players - 5, while Stoke City failed to make one incoming deal at all. We thought it wouldn't happen, with him being otherwise engaged at court and at a match, but Harry Redknapp popped up at the end of the window to throw all sorts of spanners in all manner of works, by talking brazenly about everyone else's players (despite other managers' refusal to talk about his - like David Moyes) and revealing a couple of very, very late deals in his usual manner. How Blackburn Rovers and Steve Kean would have felt about him openly courting Ryan Nelson with 20 minutes left on the clock remains unconfirmed. The best deal of the window? Cisse to Newcastle if he enjoys anything like the scoring form of his Senegalese team-mate Demba Ba, or perhaps Marvin Sordell at Bolton, whose £3m move from Watford could well change the season for Owen Coyle's men. Outside of the Premiership, West Ham were the busiest, tying up deadline day deals for Ravel Morrison, Ricardo Vaz Te and Nick Maynard to rebuild their attacking options. Here are the full details of every Premiership's deals, with known fees marked, and the others landing on that familiar pile called Undisclosed: The Premiership
