An eventful two nights of Champions League action which saw Barcelona tearing apart Belarussian opponents Bate 5-0, Chelsea scraping a 1-1 draw at Valencia and Man City losing 2-0 at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena where Carlos Tevez was the centre of attention but for the all the wrong reasons. Here I will take you through each game of Matchday 2 and update you with all the latest tables and results. Group A
Bayern Munich played: 2 points: 6 Napoli played: 2 points: 4 Man City played: 2 points: 1 Villarreal played: 2 points: 0Bayern Munich sit top of Group A as they have played two and won two against Villarreal and Man City. Bayern forward Mario Gomez is on excellent form at the moment and he provided the two goals against Man City on Tuesday night to secure The Germans continued their 100% start to the new Champions League campaign. Napoli sit on four points in second spot as they managed to draw 1-1 with Man City in week 1 and then beat Villarreal on Tuesday night. A pleasing start for the Italians. Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini's Manchester City and Villarreal will be hoping they can step up their game in the next few weeks as poor starts have put them lower down in the table. Group B
Trabzonspor played: 2 points: 4 Inter Milan played: 2 points: 3 Lille played: 2 points: 2 CSKA Moscow played: 2 points: 1Surprise leaders Trabzonspor are top the group as they pulled off a remarkable win over Italian side Inter Milan on Matchday 1 and then drew to Villarreal on Tuesday night thanks to a Colman penalty on 75 minutes. The Turkish team, who finished 2nd last term, have started very well under coach Senol Gunes. Inter Milan boosted their qualifying hopes on Wednsday night as they just about beat CSKA Moscow 3-2 in Moscow. Inter were leading 2-0 but let their foot off the gas for a short amount of time and consequently conceeded two goals which could've resulted in another embarrassing loss. On the positive side, new boss Claudio Ranieri has lead his team to two wins in two games. Lille and CSKA Moscow sit in third and fouth respectively. Group C
FC Basel played: 2 points: 4 Benfica played: 2 points: 4 Manchester United played: 2 points: 2 SC Otelul Galati played: 2 points: 0Another group that is lead by a surprise package in FC Basel. The Swiss champions drew to Romanian debutants SC Otelul Galati, who are expected to finish bottom, in the first game. They then pulled off a fantastic performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. Thornsten Fink's men were 2-0 down at half-time but credit to Basel as they came out second-half and thanks to a hat-trick from in-form striker Alexander Frei they managed to pick up a point - could've been a win if Ashley Young hadn't of netted in the 90th minute - which was in-fact his first ever Champions League goal. A fantastic start for Basel. Benfica drew on Matchday 1 to Man Utd and then beat Otelul Galati on Wednsday night 1-0 so they sit in second place for the time being. Ferguson's Man Utd are in third (I'm sure they'll turn it around) and no surprise that Otelul Galati are in last place as they are yet to get a singular point on the board. Group D
Real Madrid played: 2 points: 6 Lyon played: 2 points: 4 Ajax played: 2 points: 1 Dinamo Zagreb played: 2 points: 0Real Madrid are top of Group D after beating Croatians Dinamo Zagreb in week 1 through a Di Maria goal and then securing three points against Dutch champions Ajax on Tuesday night courtsey of goals from Ronaldo, Kaka, who also set up one and looked very sharp, and Karim Benzema who was lively throughout and also set up Ronaldo's goal which tipped off a fantastic Real Madrid move. Madrid look favourites to win the group with Ajax and Lyon looking to battle it out for second place with Dinamo Zagreb falling behind in fourth spot. Lyon did pull off a convincing display against Zagreb on Tuesday night due to goals from Gomis, who lobbed the keeper with a delightful chip, and Kone. Ajax are yet to win as so are Dinamo Zagreb. Group E
Chelsea played: 2 points: 4 Bayer Leverkusen played: 2 points: 3 Valencia played: 2 points: 2 Genk played: 2 points: 1Chelsea, unsurprisingly, sit top of Group E. Villa-Boas' men beat Leverkusen, who won against Genk 2-0 on Wednsday night, 2-0 on Matchday 1 and then drew against Valencia 1-1 at the Mallero on Wednsday night as Frank Lampard scored for the Blues but sub Solomon Kalou hand-balled in the penalty area to present in-form Spanish forward Roberto Solado with a penalty which somehow he did not misplace. Valencia's goalkeeper was in fine form and if it wasn't for him, Alves, then Chelsea and especially Fernando Torres, could well have put five or six past the La Liga side. L everkusen got their first win under theirt best on Wednsday with a comfortable outing at home to Genk in which Michael Ballack came off the bench to score in. Valencia have drawn two games therefore sit in third with two points and Genk trail at the back after managing just a draw and a loss so far. Group F
Marseille played: 2 points: 6 Arsenal played: 2 points: 4 Borussia Dortmund played: 2 points: 1 Olympiakos played: 2 points: 0Marseille lead the group as they beat Olympiakos on Matchday 1 and then secured a win over German champions Borussia Dortmund on Wednsday night through goals from Ayew (2) and Remy. Marseille were solid at the back as well as upfront as they managed to put three past a strong looking Dortmund backline and kept the likes of Mario Gotze and Shinji Kagawa at bay. Arsenal scraped a 2-1 draw at home to Greece side Olympiakos. Summer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring for the Gunners, at the same time being the youngest ever English player to score in the UEFA Champions League. Another summer signing, left-back Andre Santos, then scored just 12 minutes later to put Wenger into a somehwat jubilant mood. Wenger was in the stands but that ban ended last night and he can now re-unite with assistant boss Pat Rice in the dug-out for future Champions League fixtures. Olympiakos scored on the 27th minute mark but Arsenal held on to secure a big win on a night full of pressure and expectations. Olympiakos yet to get any points on the table, though. Group G
Apoel Nicosia played: 2 points: 4 Zenit St Petersburg played: 2 points: 3 FC Porto played: 2 points: 3 Shakhtar Donetsk played: 2 points: 1Apoel have started their Champions League campaign excellently with a win over Zenit St Petersburg on week 1 and a draw against Ukranian champions Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednsday night. Away at the Donbass Arena, too. A great start by the Cypriots. Russians Zenit lost their opening fixture but beat FC Porto 3-1 on Wednsday night thanks to goals from Shirokov and Portuguese playmaker Danny. Striker Kerzakhov could've had a hat-trick or more if he would've his shooting boots on. FC Porto came from a goal behind to beat Shakhtar on Matchday 1 to beat Lucescu's men 2-1. This puts them in third with three points. Shakhtar are bottom but should turn this around fairly quickly, I'm confident of that. Group H
AC Milan played: 2 points: 4 Barcelona played: 2 points: 4 Bate Borisov played: 2 points: 1 Plzen played: 2 points: 1AC Milan and Barcelona sit on level points in Group H but AC Milan's better goal difference allows them to fill up first spot for now. AC Milan drew 2-2 against Barcelona on Matchday 1 and then beat Plzen 2-0 on Wednsday night courtsey of goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Cassono (Cassono's goal being set up by Ibrahimovic). Barcelona thrashed Belarussian's Bate on Wednsday night to take their points tally up to four. Lionel Messi scored two in what was a extremely comfortable victory for Guardiola's team. Bate Borisov and Plzen look dead and buried already as they lye in third and fourth respectively. AC Milan and Barcelona look the two favourites to proceed past the group stages and qualify.
