UFC 153 Preview - Anderson Silva To Destroy Stephan Bonnar
Glover Teixeira vs. Fabio Maldonado
This one is a firm contender for fight of the night. Both fighters have excellent stand up credentials and enjoy letting their fists go. Maldonado is a former boxer with 22 wins from 22 fights and 21 stoppages. He is definitely comfortable on his feet and throws some devastating body shots, something you don't see too much of in MMA. Teixeira is also a dangerous striker with 11 of his 18 wins coming by way of knockout. He has come into the UFC with a lot of hype and is already been talked about a potential threat to Jon Jones. I give him the edge in this one as I think he has more power on the feet and is the more well-rounded fighter. If anyone plans on taking this one to the ground it will be Teixeira and I think his ability to mix it up will give him an advantage. Prediction: I'm going with Teixera to win this by submission in round two.
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dave Herman
Another fight which has the potential to be very exciting. Big Nog takes on the hard hitting Dave Herman in what could be an explosive encounter. Big Nog has shown that he is happy to stand with anyone and even dominated Frank Mir whilst the fight was on its feet. However I don't think it will be wise to try and stand with Herman for the duration of the fight, expect Nogueira to try and get this one to the ground where his legendary Jiu-Jitsu will come into play. The big if is whether he can get Herman to the ground; Herman has very good wrestling and will try to use that advantage to keep the fight standing. I really think that Herman has the tools to win this one - Nogueira has been stopped recently and I don't think he has the power to finish Herman. Prediction: I'm going with the upset and picking Herman to keep this one standing and finish by knockout in round one.
