Nick Ring (13-1) vs Costa Philippou (11-2)
Famously known for the, "Oh no you didn't", Nick Ring will look to win in his home country but that is easier said then done when fighting Costa Philippou. Ring is coming off a very controversial win over Court McGee. Many fans and media outlets felt that McGee won due by control, striking, and aggression. Philippou, on the other hand, defeated McGee easily. Now MMATH doesn't work but Costa should be able to defeat Ring. He has a big advantage in his boxing over Ring. His takedown defense has been improving exponentially. The only advantage Ring has is his ground game but I don't see him getting Costa down. Costa Philippou wins a Unanimous Decision by sprawl and brawl.
Francis Carmont (19-7) vs Tom Lawlor (8-4-1)
Francis Carmont is on an eight fight win streak but not against the best of competition. A win over Tom Lawlor would prove he can hang with the middle of the the middleweight division. A win over Francis Carmont would show improvements for Tom Lawlor. This is going to be a tough, gritty fight. Carmont has a striking advantage over Lawlor so he should look to take the fight to the ground. But taking Carmont down will be no easy task for Lawlor. Lawlor has shown power before in his hands especially his brutal knockout over Jason MacDonald. Carmont has more submission victories under his belt but submissions are just one part of a ground game. I think Lawlor could control Carmont if he gets him down. Lawlor should look to wear him out against the cage then attack. Francis Carmont wins the fight by decision.
