UFC 166: 3 Reasons Why Velasquez vs Dos Santos 3 Is Unmissable

2. The Second Fight

Fight 2

With both fighters performing injured in their first bout the UFC was quick to try and get both men healthy for a rematch between the two which took place at UFC 155. The result of the fight couldn€™t have been anymore different from their first bout as Velasquez won the fight in devastating fashion in fact he pretty much crushed Dos Santos in a 5 round one sided beating.

It was probably one of the most one sided UFC title bout in history, for all of Dos Santos€™s brilliant boxing skills Cain was just too powerful and quick with lighting fast combinations snapping Dos Santos€™s head back numerous times. Velasquez also has insane cardio for a big 260 pound fighter allowing him to throw shots at Dos Santos for the full 25 minutes not giving the Brazilian a second to catch his breath.

The fight went the distance and it was an easy unanimous victory for Cain with no one left doubting who won that fight as Cain had avenging his loss and regaining the title all in one fight. Velasquez is now on top of the world and laid down a pretty heavy marker to the rest of the heavyweight division with his 5 round beating on the very talented Dos Santos. Everyone has now seen just how good this Mexican American athlete is and just how fit he is to be able to work for so long in a fight and not slow down massively.

Just as Cain would have been shocked by his loss in the first fight I€™m sure Dos Santos was completely shocked at how much he was controlled and beaten down in the second fight. To be utterly outclassed like that in a title fight would have been a real wake up for Junior but to his credit he came back in his last fight knocking out one of the toughest chins in all MMA showing great mental strength after such a devastating loss.

For the third fight well Dos Santos will be willing to do anything to avoid being bounced around the cage for 5 rounds and it will also be very interesting to see how badly Dos Santos wants to avenge only the second lost in his professional MMA career. He will now know the danger Cain is bringing to the fight because it€™s clear Cain if he gets a chance can dominate the fight and just batter Dos Santos if Junior doesn€™t come up with an answer to Cain€™s speed and cardio.
