UFC 166: 3 Reasons Why Velasquez vs Dos Santos 3 Is Unmissable

1. The Future Third Fight

I can€™t ever honestly recall there ever being a trilogy of fights where heading into the rubber match no one is sure just how the fight will go let alone who the winner will be. With two different winners, two totally different fights and two completely different finishes just means this match almost impossible to call. Somehow we have a rubber match where the result could be almost anything and no one going into the fight has a real advantage.

It makes this fight so much more exciting being so unsure about everything in fact really the two best ideas for outcomes to the fight comes down to either Cain controls and uses his cardio and speedy combos to beat Dos Santos around like the second fight or Dos Santos can get in close and fire off a huge right hand and knock the champion out like the first fight. But the chances are this fight could produce a completely new finish making this trilogy must watch TV with these two amazing competitors ready to square off for what would be round 7 of an epic rivalry.

With your guess being as good as mine to how the fight will go or end I suppose I should point out the only thing we really know for certain is that both men will stay standing and trade blows. Sure Cain scored 11 takedowns in their second fight but really he only uses takedowns to further control and tire out his opponent as Cain doesn€™t go for submissions on the ground. Cain was an excellent college wrestler but using his wrestling as more a quick fire offensive weapon than a way to win the fight.

Also it€™s not like Dos Santos is a rank amateur on the match, he has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsa so if Cain did attack on the ground Dos Santos would have a wide array of holds and submissions he could use but like Cain he rarely uses his mat skills preferring to stand and trade punches. No matter who wins on Saturday it€™s sure to be a much talked about fight with both men knowing victory in this rubber match would set them up for life as one of the best heavyweights in UFC history while the loser might struggle to ever get another rematch.

Personally I think Cain Velasquez will just have enough to defeat Junior, his range is better he will throw more kicks and takedowns and I just can€™t see Dos Santos landing a big enough shot to floor Cain, it€™s very rare to beat a world class fighter twice with one punch KO€™s but if anyone in the UFC could do it would be Dos Santos. That€™s what makes this fight so great it really could swing either way and until they touch gloves and start the fight no one will know just how their final battle will pan out.

So what do you think will you be watching the fight? Is it really too close to call or do you have a favourite you are sure will win and have possession of the UFC heavyweight title all comments welcome below.
