2. Ronda Rousey Continuing Her Dominant Title Reign
Isaac Brekken/AP/Press Association ImagesThe biggest star in MMA today is once again placed in the co-main event slot. That isn't necessarily a knock on Ronda Rousey because we know how much of a commodity she is. It comes from the fact that her opponents aren't perceived as legitimate threats. This perception shouldn't take away from her title defense against Alexis Davis, which should be a compelling fight. Davis is the first black belt that Rousey will be facing in her career. While many people rolled their eyes, when she stated that
she can beat any woman in a pure jiu-jitsu match. She could help defend her quote on Saturday by submitting Davis. It will also be interesting to see what kind of reaction she receives. Not many people are emotionally invested in Davis, so this could lead to Rousey being cheered more than jeered. She couldn't care either way, but their is still an enigma on her overall popularity amongst fans. We also have to keep an eye out on her
"improved boxing" that was raved about before her fight against Sara McMann. Her coach Edmond Tarverdyan stated that she has dropped world champion boxers with body shots. We shall see on Saturday.
