UFC: Top 10 Andrei Arlovski Moments

10. Affliction: Day Of Reckoning - Arlovski vs. Fedor Emelianenko

Not every top moment is going to be a win. Coming in a the bottom of the list is Arlovski's final Affliction appearance, versus The Last Emperor, Fedor Emelianenko back in January 2009. Looking back, beyond being a notable moment for Arlovski (not necessarily in a good way), it was probably the last great moment for Emelianenko. After this fight, which saw the WAMMA heavyweight championship on the line, both fighters went into a tailspin, with Arlovski losing all three of his next fights, all of which came under the Strikeforce banner (Emelianenko struggled in Strikeforce as well, with his lone victory coming over also-ran Brett Rogers prior to dropping three straight of his own). And that WAMMA belt? WAMMA was the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts, an organization consisting of media members and fighters with the goal of providing official rankings, independent of fight promotions. Pat Militech was a member. So was Ben Fowlkes. Affliction, an upstart MMA organization born out of a clothing line, was one of the few organizations to recognize the alliance. Where's WAMMA now? Gone to dust. Their offices, in Orlando, FL, were seemingly deserted by the summer of 2009, and I wouldn't suggest looking up their website these days, as there is some pretty racy adult content currently making its home there. The fight itself? Well, things looked good for Arlovski as he controlled early, however after an attempted knee, he was caught by the Russian legend and KO'd. Still, losing to a fighter many consider the Greatest of All Time is nothing to be ashamed of. On top of that, this was one of those rare times when the stars aligned, and fans got to see two legends go at it. For all that, despite being a loss, Arlovski vs. Fedor comes in at number 10.
