West Brom Transfers: 5 Replacements For Retiring Nicolas Anelka

5. Soloman Kalou

One option for Steve Clarke when looking for a replacement for Nicolas Anelka is to renew his interest in former Chelsea star Soloman Kalou. Kalou, who spent six seasons at Chelsea and now plays for Lille, has been linked with a move to the Hawthorns for much of the summer, while Premier League rivals West Ham were also interested, with both sides triggering the striker's £2.6 million release clause at one stage. The Ivorian scored 36 goals in 156 Premier League appearances for Chelsea but left on a free transfer last summer and has since impressed in Ligue 1, scoring 14 times in 28 appearances for his new side. West Brom's hopes of landing the 28-year-old might be slim however after Kalou revealed he'd prefer to stay in France, believing he has a better chance of progressing.
