West Ham Boss Manuel Pellegrini "Mugged At Gunpoint" In Chile
He and his wife were targeted by a local gang.
Former Man City and new West Ham Utd manager Manuel Pellegrini was held at gunpoint by local thugs in his native Chile over the weekend.
BBC News reported the story via Chilean newspaper La Cuarta. Pellegrini had been on his way to a restaurant with his wife and some friends when they were "mugged at gunpoint" by a gang. In the fracas, Pellegrini's wife had her purse stolen, and the offending gang members shot at police as they drove away in a stolen car.
Taking to Twitter, the new boss at the London Stadium thanked police for their "quick and courageous" response to the drama.
The Premier League-winning coach will replace David Moyes as West Ham manager for the new campaign, and the 64-year old's main task will be ensuring that The Hammers don't suffer another dismal season fighting relegation.
The new job must have been the furthest thing from his mind when confronted by gang members back home in Chile however, and it's pleasing to report that, whilst the incident was undoubtedly distressing for Pellegrini, his friends and family, nobody was hurt.
