West Ham Transfer News: Hammers Want Oscar Cardozo?

talkSPORT. Hammers manager Sam Allardyce is in the market for another forward with new signing Andy Carroll ruled out until mid September with a foot injury. Cardozo, 30, has been one of the most prolific scorers in Portuguese football in recent seasons and banged in 17 goals in 25 Primeira Liga appearances last term. The Paraguayan, who has also been linked with Manchester City and newly-promoted Cardiff, would relish the chance to showcase his talents in the Premier League. The South American has a wealth of experience having been capped 46 times for his country and Allardyce wants to bring him to Upton Park to provide competition for both Carroll and Modibo Maiga. Reports in Portugal suggest a deal could be competed within the next two weeks before the English transfer window slams shut on September 2, though West Ham have to sell before they can buy. Ricardo Vaz Te, Matt Taylor and Alou Diarra have all been linked with moves away from the London club and could become victims of the Hammer's pursuit of Cardozo this summer.
