West Ham Transfer News: Massimo Ambrosini In Talks Join On A Free

MassimoAmbrosini West Ham United are in talks to sign former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini, according to the Daily Mail. The 36-year old two-time Champions League winner is a free agent this summer after his contract at the San Siro expired and he is now on the lookout for a new club. One option for the veteran is to move to the MLS, but it seems that the Italian would prefer to prolong his topflight career rather than move to America. And that could put the Hammers in the frame as he weighs up his next career move. Speaking on Tuesday, his agent Moreno Roggi said:
"Obviously Massimo wants to continue playing. There are some negotiations in place and we are evaluating every type of proposal. "His preference would be overseas clubs, but if an offer did come in from an Italian side, we would not ignore it completely. "At this moment we are in talks with West Ham, while we have already ruled out Major League Soccer."
Ambrosini won four Serie A titles throughout his time at Milan and enjoyed a glittering career, winning the Champions League in 2003 and again in 2007, after Milan defeated Liverpool. He also went on to lift the UEFA Super Cup in each of those two seasons with his last honour coming in 2011, when Milan won the Supercoppa Italiana. He enjoyed a near two-decade-long career at the San Siro, where he was also the club's captain. That responsibility is now expected to be handed to 28-year old midfielder Riccardo Montolivo ahead of the new season.
