West Ham United have confirmed on their website the signing of Wolves winger Matt Jarvis for a club-record fee.

confirmed on their website the signing of Wolves winger Matt Jarvis for a club-record fee. Jarvis, who will wear the number seven (7) shirt, has signed a five-year contract with an optional extension. The two clubs have yet to reveal the exact transfer fee involved but it has been confirmed by the club to be in excess of £9m, the previous record fee. TEAMTalk reported on Friday that the fee was believed to be in the region of £10.75 million. The 26-year-old notched eight goals for Wolves last season and could make his debut in claret and blue this weekend, when the Hammers face Swansea on Saturday's lunch-time game at the Liberty Stadium in front of Sky television cameras. "I've been told about how good the fans are hopefully they'll get behind me and I can show them what I can do," Jarvis told the club's website. "It'll be straight in and hit the ground running. There's no time to think about it, you've just got to get on with it, which is good. I hope to train with the team today and then travel up to Swansea." West Ham welcome the England international to the club following his last appearance for Wolves on Tuesday night. Jarvis crossed for David Edwards to head home the third in Wolves' 3-1 win over Barnsley at Molineux. "From my point of view it is a big piece of business for a terrific young man who will add a lot of quality to our team," said Iron boss Sam Allardyce. The former Bolton and Blackburn manager had been tracking the midfielder all summer and is pleased to have finally got his man. "Certainly from an attacking sense he is one of the best final-third crossers in the Premier League and his stats were very good at Wolverhampton Wanderers. He delivers at the business end of the field and creates a lot of chances. He is a player who can give opposition defences an awful lot of trouble and we are hoping he will produce that for us."
