West Ham Transfers: 5 Strikers Needed To Avert Relegation

We're just over the half way point in the Premier League season and things are hotting up in the races for the title, European spots and survival. One such team in dire need to improve quickly to avoid such a scrap down the bottom are West Ham United. In freefall and lying in 19th place, the Hammers are currently staring at the abyss of Championship football. Not only their league form, which has seen them without a win in 7 games since a 3-0 victory over Fulham, has been a source of disappointment for all concerned with West Ham, but the 5-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest which saw them unceremoniously dumped out the FA Cup will hurt too. Central to their struggles this season has got to be the lack of any in-form strikers at the club. Without £15million man Andy Carroll since the start of the season, they have often flirted with the false nine idea or stuck in Carlton Cole, who was brought back by the club on a short team deal after being released at the end of last season, or Modibo Maiga, who with 3 goals in 31 appearances isn't exactly prolific to try and provide the goods. Furthermore, Mladen Petric has subsequently been released after just three months at Upton Park and with Ricardo Vaz Te frozen out of the picture, options are limited. So who will rejuvenate the Hammers' season and possibly save Big Sam from the chop even if the owners have publicly backed him?
