World Cup 2014: 8 Players Who Can Win It For Their Country

5. Thibaut Courtois (Belgium)

Current Odds: 20/1

Everyone loves a dark horse in any tournament and many have positioned Belgium as the team to potentially do what Uruguay did in 2010 and that's upset the apple cart and make a statement in the latter stages of this competition. At odds of 20/1 the bookies clearly see a potential victory as a stretch too far, plus you could realistically argue that it's been since 1950 that a genuine dark horse team actually won the competition.

The Belgian squad certainly isn't lacking talent, with the likes of top Premier League stars Eden Hazard and Vincent Kompany leading a charge of talented players, including Axel Witsel, Adnan Januzaj and Romelu Lukaku, however, with an overall defence that lacks quality, the MVP of this upstart Belgian team might just be superstar-in-the-making-man-between-the-sticks Thibaut Courtois, whom has played his part in Atletico Madrid's stunning season.

Already, at a mere 22, one of the world's best goalkeepers, the stage might just be set for Courtois to shine in a massive way against the world's best attacking talent over the next 8 weeks. Whilst pundits and fans alike will be looking towards the dynamic attacking talent of Belgium's front line to cause the establishment some problems, the almost certain waves of attack they themselves shall face will require Courtois to be at his very best if Belgium want to make many people's predictions for their progress a reality.
