World Cup 2018: 10 Players Who Don't Deserve To Be Going Home

1. Mohamed Salah

The likes of Messi and Ronaldo might be better individually, but Mohamed Salah was perhaps the most important player for any of the nations at this summer's World Cup. Without Messi, Argentina can still call on players like Aguero and Dybala. Without Ronaldo, Portugal still have some quality attacking talent. Without Salah, Egypt have very little, and it showed.

The African side only scored two goals at the World Cup and Salah was the man to net them both, despite clearly struggling with the shoulder injury he sustained in the Champions League final and not being fully fit. He didn't even appear in Egypt's opening game as they struggled to create any chances of note in a dour 1-0 loss to Uruguay.

He did take part in the final two games, netting a penalty against Russia and a nice individual goal against Saudi Arabia, but his teammates were simply nowhere near his level. Despite a fantastic season with Liverpool, recent weeks have been pretty miserable for Salah and his side were one of only two teams not to earn a single point in the group stage. Any of the teams left in the competition would love to have the Liverpool man in their squads.
