Man Utd: 5 Reasons Sir Alex Ferguson Will Be Back Before May

2. The Champions League

During his 26 years at Manchester United, Ferguson won 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies - but his biggest regret upon retirement was that he couldn't match Bob Paisley's record in Europe. Paisley famously won three European Cups with Liverpool, in 1977, 1978 and 1981 - and Ferguson had to make do with just the two - the 1999 triumph and the 2008 success. Yes, Ferguson achieved what he set out to do when he became United manager in 1986 and "knock Liverpool off their perch" but he never emulated them in the Champions League and that must still hurt. United finished as winners of Group A on Tuesday this week to reach the last 16 of the Champions League - one more chance then for the legendary Scot to step out of retirement and have another crack at 'the one with the big ears'?
