Liverpool Transfers: 5 Reasons Luis Suarez Will Eventually Be Sold
3. The Lure Of Playing For A European Giant
Suarez has always maintained that he wants to play for a Champions League club, calling on Liverpool over the summer to let him join a European giant. The forward even said at the time that he "had the opportunity to move to a big European club" last year, but stayed at Anfield on the understanding that "if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season I'd be allowed to go." Liverpool finished seventh last season and Suarez claimed the club reneged on their aforementioned agreement by refusing to sell to Arsenal, but ended up staying put. However, the lure of playing for a European giant like 2006 Champions League runners-up Arsenal or serial-winners Real Madrid must still burn bright, as must the desire to finally win silverware having won just the League Cup since moving to Merseyside. If Liverpool can't compete with Suarez's hunger for success, it's hard to see him finishing his career with the Reds.
