Midori (also known as Mr Arashi's Amazing Freak Show) is truly something else. If you've watched it, then you probably won't need much explanation as to why it has been banned all over the world. But, for those of you who haven't seen it, consider yourselves lucky.

The story follows the titular twelve-year-old Midori. Unlike the other girls her age, Midori gets thrust into a world of violence, misery, and sexual assault after her mother dies, and she's coerced into joining a freak show.

This 47-minute movie ticks all the controversial boxes. It's got excessive violence, fully animated genitals, paedophilia, rape, animal cruelty, exploitation, and lots more. Thus, you can't be too shocked that it drummed up more controversy than a drunk celebrity with a video camera.

Getting your hands on the movie was almost impossible, as there were only screenings in Japan, and all DVD releases were heavily censored. The original film only exists in the form of a French release in 2006, and while you can catch it on the internet, there are no countries that seem willing to allow its distribution.
