10 Best Gotham Episodes
2. One Of My Three Soups
This episode radiates chaos, disruption and a lot of laughter and this is what Gotham does so well. Yet amongst this bravado, there is one scene in particular that really stands out from the crowd.
Jerome goes looking, and finds his Uncle Zach. Here we delve into Jerome's childhood and this is why the episode stands out from the rest. When Jerome is talking about how he was abused by Uncle Zach and his mother, the scene is so evocative, and it's hard not to feel sympathy for him. It explains why he wanted his mother dead, and why he proceeds to dispatch Zach. He clearly had an awful childhood, and although it's not something to be condoned, you can see the pain on his face, the way Jerome's happy facade slips away, if only for a moment.
It continues when Bruce enters the scene with Selina, and Jerome tells him that he had no one growing up, no one to care for him, and that the beatings never stopped.
For the slightest of moments, you can spy something deep inside of him; something that resembles a tortured, vulnerable human.
