10 Doctor Who Spin Offs That Are Just Waiting To Happen
5. The Missy Mysteries
There's not really much more that can be said about this one, other than the fact that Missy's so fine, she's so fine, she blows our minds, hey Missy... hey Missy... Seriously though, Michelle Gomez has only appeared in two full episodes of Doctor Who yet she has already managed to firmly establish herself within the show's mythology, which is no mean feat for a character who was first seen dancing and twirling around a summery garden brandishing an umbrella for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Did she mention... bananas? What's more, fans (well, most of them, anyway...) have already taken her to their hearts with her fantastical portrayal of the Doctor's arch nemesis giving them a malevolent Master they just love to hate. She really is the gift that keeps on giving and if the BBC ever decided to put a new edge on things by giving one of the the Doctor's enemies their own series (hey, it could happen!), she would definitely be the most deserving. It's an interesting and scary concept to think about what Missy gets up to when she's alone but it would no doubt be an interesting insight into the character's psychology. The origins of the involvement and her creation of the Nethersphere would also make for an interesting tie-in 'prequel' series, focusing on her various cameos scattered throughout Series 8 which could this time be told from her perspective and explained in further detail. Or perhaps a one off Bank Holiday special in which it's confirmed she actually is Mary Poppins' evil twin would go down well, particularly with the fans who were left far from pleased by her reveal as the first female incarnation of the Master. In Doctor Who, pretty much anything goes. Saying that, it looks like she'll be returning with an almighty vengeance in Series 9 anyway, so fans really don't have that long to wait until she's back on our screens to wreak yet more timey-wimey havoc and generally insisting on getting all up in the Twelfth Doctor's grill. Can't wait.
