10 Failed Comic Book TV Projects That Would Be Awesome Now

Stephen King may be the undisputed master of horror, but there's clearly something in the genes, as his son Joe Hill has also written a number of chilling novels and even his own comic book series. Locke & Key tells the story of a widow who moves into a haunted New England mansion with her children. Hill put his own stamp on the traditional haunted house genre by filling the mansion with portals to other worlds and demons that will stop at nothing to unleash their kind on the earth.

Back in 2011, Fox developed a pilot episode based on Hill's comic book series, but unfortunately, the show was never picked up. A one-off screening at Comic Con showed a lucky few what could have been, but there's still some hope, as Universal Studios are discussing the possibility of adapting the comics into a series of films.

A Locke & Key film could be a huge success, but horror is enjoying a resurgence on TV recently, with hits as varied as American Horror Story and Ash VS. Evil Dead, so a show like Locke & Key could thrive more on the small screen. The Walking Dead has also proved that the serial format of comics is a perfect fit for a faithful TV adaptation that still puts its own spin on the material.
