10 More Non-Superhero Comic Series That Would Make Great TV Shows

6. Demo

950407Genre: Drama Anthology What it is: Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan€™s critically acclaimed, slightly supernatural, character based anthology series. Each issue was its very own story, with different situations and characters. Why it would be great: Other than the recent series Black Mirror, anthology series are sorely missing on television these days, and Demo would be a great addition. Each of these slice-of-life stories carry such an emotional weight to them, with well-rounded characters who feel like people you already know. This series has superpowers, but they aren€™t the focus. Instead, the focus is on how the characters deal with difficult situations, loves, and living in the day to day grind. With strong character driven stories as diverse as that of a soldier who never misses his target being shipped off to war where he doesn€™t want to shoot anyone; or of a man finding his girlfriend dead, and learning more about her, and himself, by listening to the bizarre mix-tape she left behind; or the girl who appears to everybody as whoever they want her to be, while struggling to find her own identity. Demo may be the one show on this list that is the hardest to market, but if done right would be a really great, and potentially award winning series.

Carl has been a comic shop impresario, comic book illustrator, record store clerk, electronic musician, late night radio DJ, club promoter, graphic designer, and other cool things you wish you could be. He mistakenly had purple dreadlocks once. For three years. Which made him way less cool. He doesn't actually know what the word impresario means, and is way too lazy to Google it. Carl is also an American, and for that he apologizes.
