10 Most Inappropriate Moments In Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

5. Sisko Sleeping His Way Through The Mirror Universe

Deep Space Nine loved revisiting Original Series concepts like the mirror universe. The alternate reality allowed the show's writers and producers to play with the existing crew and put a fresh spin on them. It also let audiences watch a character like Sisko sleep with the mirror universe equivalent of his colleagues, seemingly without consequence. Next time keep it in the holosuite, mate.

When Sisko is abducted and brought to the mirror universe in "Through the Looking Glass", he must work with the rebels to prevent the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance from discovering their hideouts. He assumes the identity of the mirror universe Sisko and does the nasty with Jadzia and Kira. Going undercover is one thing, but Sisko's judgment here is absolutely awful.

The issue here is that Jadzia and Kira consented to getting it on with mirror Sisko, not his prime counterpart. That makes our show's protagonist guilty of rape by deception. And it gets worse. When he read the script, Avery Brooks was reportedly happy to see his character finally get laid. Never meet your heroes, kids.

Sisko's sexual violence adds no value to "Through a Looking Glass". On the contrary, these moments just reek of male fantasy and ruin the more emotional scenes between him and the mirror Jennifer. We could've waited until his romance with Kasidy Yates for Sisko's sexuality to emerge - or just done without it, really.
