10 Most Underrated TV Actors Of All Time

2. Timothy Olyphant

The Mandalorian
FX

Recently, Timothy Olyphant turned up for a short stay in the second season of Disney's The Mandalorian, and social media response primarily focussed on the fact that he'd played several lawmen types in his biggest roles.

After a few years of bit roles in various movies, Olyphant was cast in the role of Seth Bullock on Deadwood. Bullock served as the town's sheriff and moral centre, brilliantly clashing with Ian McShane's intimidating Al Swearengen whilst attempting to keep the peace.

Olyphant was fantastic in the role, proving he could be a leading man and taking part in one of the best TV shows of all time in the process.

When Deadwood wrapped up, he was cast as Elmore Leonard's iconic US Marshall Raylan Givens, the lead character in the great crime drama Justified. In this role, Olyphant once more hammered home his leading man status, and gave the best performance of his career as the show's toughest and most complex antihero.

Contrary to popular belief, though, Olyphant hasn't been totally relegated to lawman roles, as his most recent leading turn came in Netflix's deliciously dark comedy Santa Clarita Diet, where he plays a man whose wife (Drew Barrymore) turns into a living zombie. Here, he's much more aloof and funny, and proves he's just as good at comedy as he is at drama.

Despite his prolific career, he's not been nominated for a single Emmy or Golden Globe.
