4. Father-Mother Issues Throughout
This one hits close to home, as I have had multiple parental issues throughout my childhood. How I Met Your Mother presents a unique look at the lives of some who have had disastrous childhoods due to their parents. I'm sure that many of the readers here would also be having father-mother issues, and I had them too, and thus this show is close to my heart, as it gives me inspiration to deal with them. Marshall and his dad had always got along, and Marshall's mom was a delight to hang out with too. However, Lily's relationship with her dad was a rough one, and it pained to watch how her dad was never there for her, or he always disturbed her more, whenever she was in distress. Barney Stinson never knew who his father was until his mother told, and he and his dad never had a strong bonding moment together. His mom was his dad, and it was wonderful to watch how his mom, no matter how cunning, always supported Barney, and his brother James, as they faced tough times. Robin's dad always wanted a boy, however, Robin tried to make him proud at every single occasion, which was heart breaking to watch. These moments made me a true- How I Met Your Mother fan, and it added to the emotion of the show.
